I joined the firm in 1999 having extensive experience in all areas of domestic relations law, including divorce, paternity, modifications, adoptions, and juvenile court work. I also practice in the area of construction law, small business, real property, probate and contracts. In addition to my court practice, I’m on the list of court-certified mediators and I mediate cases cheaper than I litigate them because I believe so much in that process. The US Postal Services also contracts with me to mediate their EEO employment discrimination complaints, which I have done for over a dozen years. I also do conflict work for the office of the Guardian Ad Litem, representing abused and neglected children.
I graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement and worked as the first female police officer on patrol in Santa Barbara, California. After returning to Utah and starting my family, I went to law school at the J. Reuben Clark Law School, where I was a member of the moot court and trial advocacy teams and graduated cum laude. While in law school, I worked for U.S. District Court Judge Dee Benson, the Utah County Attorney’s office, and Utah Legal Services. Prior to going to law school I worked as a paralegal, a newspaper columnist, a small businesswoman, and film producer. I published a book entitled “Thinking Divorce? Think Again!” available through Amazon.com, and my website, ThinkingDivorce.com.
I also served as a Representative in the Utah State Legislature for District 59 in Orem, Utah and retired after three terms.

In addition to our personal service and attention to detail, I am a certified mediator as well as a lawyer. We can provide alternative dispute resolution for those cases where the parties want to stay out of court, limit costs or for those cases where an agreement is possible without a long excruciating court battle. Mediators are trained neutral professionals who help parties come to a resolution in their family law cases.
